The Science of Recovery

Research says that 6g of essential amino acids along with 35g carbohydrate produces the desired recovery effect post-exercise.

For Goodness Shakes! contains 16g of protein and 46/59g of carbohydrate and is made from natural ingredients using milk's high biological value proteins.

Milk is a rich source of 'complete protein' for recovery.

Complete protein means providing ALL of the 9 essential amino acids that the body cannot make = the vital building blocks for muscle recovery. Consuming these proteins immediately after training, can stimulate muscle build up and rebuilding during recovery.

The combination of whey and casein proteins found in milk may offer certain advantages to athletes during the first few hours of recovery

Whey protein ('fast' protein) enters the gastrointestinal tract for absorption quickly resulting in elevated blood amino acids that help to increase protein synthesis (muscle build).

Casein ('slow' protein) - raises blood amino acids moderately but over a prolonged period, taking over from whey amino acids continuing to feed the muscle, reduce the breakdown of protein and promote a positive protein balance - essential if you want to build muscle.
