Cambridge University Boat Club  

Cambridge University Boat Club

Founded in 1828, the Cambridge University Boat Club has just celebrated its 179th birthday. Crews are formed to race Oxford in the University Boat Race over what has become famous as the Championship Course on the River Thames in London: Putney to Mortlake, 4 1/4 miles. Of the 153 Boat Races, Cambridge have won 79 including ten of the last fifteen.

Through the guidance of the Club`s professional coaching team, now with Duncan Holland at the helm, and including guest coaches of the distinction of Donald Legget and Tim McLaren, the CUBC has consistently produced racing crews of the highest standard.

He was the top British finisher at London Marathon 2006, as well as The Great North Run 2006. Last year was a good year for Pete as he became the first person to become national champion over cross country, 5000m (track), 10km road, and the marathon.

With a personal race history that spans the last 15 years, he has raced all over the world, has 118 career victories, in every distance from 1 hour short track xc to 24 hour solo. He has broken long-distance mountain bike records and been a 24 hour age group World Champion.
He is the driving force behind both the team, which has developed into the number 1 enduro mountain bike team in the UK, and the Seven Deadly Spins; a UK based series of long-distance challenges dedicated to taking mountain biking back into the mountains.
